My toshiba satellite C655D-S5084 built in webcam or mic will not work?

ok so i noticed that neither worked yesterday. i tried going to the webcam application but a message keeps popping up saying web camera initialization failed. please check your camera device and restart application or computer. i have tried going to Toshiba's website and get the driver updates but that didn't even work either. and i cant even find the web camera anywhere but on my start menu bar not even the device manager. and my mic says its unplugged but i cant seem to find a way to get it plugged back? iv'e tried so many things to get it to work but nothing. its really getting me frustrated.
